Midtown is a residential and retail area in Sacramento, offering a mix of apartment buildings, condos, townhomes and old Victorians.
Midtown
The movers and shakers in Sacramento are drawn to Midtown for its energy and vibe. Comprised of residential and retail areas within a 13 by 22 block area near the state capitol, it's where all the cool kids hang out. With hip restaurants, cafes and wine bars, it's the place to be if you're looking for nightlife and fine dining. The Second Saturday Art Walk brings thousands of residents out as they explore galleries and enjoy live music late into the evening.
While young twentysomethings proliferate the area, plenty of retired folks move here for the easily accessible retail corridor, where boutiques, offices and churches share space with historic Sutter's Fort, making walking a viable alternative for many errands. The area is a mix of apartment buildings, condos, townhomes and old Victorians, with construction dating from 1910 to the present. One of the more notable recent projects in the area is the upscale and modern L Street Lofts.
The desirability of the area comes at a price, with multifamily units starting just under $300,000 and escalating to over a million dollars.
