As of the census of 2000, there were 4,507 people, 1,747 households, and 1,271 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,748.0 people per square mile (674.5/km²). There were 1,971 housing units at an average density of 764.4/sq mi (295.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.99% White (U.S. Census), 2.66% African American (U.S. Census), 0.36% Native American (U.S. Census), 0.75% Asian (U.S. Census), 0.13% Pacific Islander (U.S. Census), 1.35% from Race (United States Census), and 1.75% from two or more races. Hispanic (U.S. Census) or Latino (U.S. Census) of any race were 6.59% of the population.

There were 1,747 households out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.4% were Marriage living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 22.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
