Georgetown is a New England town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 7,377 at the 2000 census. It was incorporated in 1838 from part of Rowley, Massachusetts.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7,377 people, 2,566 households, and 2,024 families residing in the town. The population density was 570.2 people per square mile (220.1/km²). There were 2,616 housing units at an average density of 202.2/sq mi (78.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.52% White (U.S. Census), 0.15% African American (U.S. Census), 0.14% Native American (U.S. Census), 0.42% Asian (U.S. Census), 0.31% from Race (United States Census), and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic (U.S. Census) or Latino (U.S. Census) of any race were 0.64% of the population.

There were 2,566 households out of which 41.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.8% were Marriage living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.1% were non-families. 16.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.27.
