As of the census of 2000, there were 1,707 people, 521 households, and 365 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 532.3 people per square mile (205.3/km2). There were 594 housing units at an average density of 185.2/sq mi (71.4/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 59.64% White (U.S. Census), 37.26% African American (U.S. Census), 0.29% Native American (U.S. Census), 1.00% Asian (U.S. Census), 0.76% from Race (United States Census), and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanic (U.S. Census) or Latino (U.S. Census) of any race were 2.40% of the population.
