As of the census of 2000, there were 4,868 people, 1,853 households, and 1,271 families residing in the town. The population density was 469.7 people per square mile (181.4/km²). There were 1,906 housing units at an average density of 183.9/sq mi (71.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 88.82% White (U.S. Census), 0.33% African American (U.S. Census), 0.02% Native American (U.S. Census), 8.48% Asian (U.S. Census), 0.37% from Race (United States Census), and 1.97% from two or more races. Hispanic (U.S. Census) or Latino (U.S. Census) of any race were 1.13% of the population.

There were 1,853 households out of which 42.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% were Marriage living together, 5.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.4% were non-families. 25.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.25.
