Neil Patrick Harris Buys Harlem Brownstone for $3.6 Million
Harris puts Harlem on the celebrity real estate map with his purchase of an 8,000-square-foot townhouse.
Remember that record-setting Harlem townhouse sale that we mentioned back in July? It turns out the buyer is none other than Neil Patrick Harris. According to the New York Post, Harris bought the renovated 8,000-square-foot home for $3.6 million — which is below the previous $4 million asking price but still high above the average Harlem townhouse price of $1.65 million.
Harris was reportedly already living in Harlem, but we knew he was on the market for a new Harlem pad when he tweeted about it back in March. "Looking to buy a brownstone in Harlem. Figure someone on Twitter might wanna sell. Any takers?" This home, located at 2036 Fifth Ave., is reportedly bigger than his last place — which should provide plenty of romping room for the 2-year-old twins that he's raising with fiance David Burtka.
According to the Corcoran listing, the brownstone is divided into a 5,000-square-foot triplex and a commercial duplex on the ground floor. Unless he has plans to become a celebrity landlord, though, we're guessing Harris will incorporate the duplex into the main house. As it currently exists, the triplex offers four bedrooms, two terraces, a backyard and rooftop.
