Hollywood Tree House

With its lush surroundings and warm yet modern architecture, this Los Angeles estate has attracted a succession of famous owners. Known as "The Tree House" for its setting in a mature sycamore [more] grove, the home was once owned by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who sold it to Heath Ledger for $2.1 million in 2005. The actor shared the home with girlfriend and Brokeback Mountain costar Michelle Williams and their daughter, Matilda, until the couple split in 2007. After Heath's death from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008, the home was sold for $2.5 million. The property is now back on the market for $2.995 million. UPDATE (1/5/2012): The asking price for Heath Ledger's former home has been reduced to $2.795 million. UPDATE (2/16/2012): After another price reduction, Heath Ledger's former home is now listed for $2.595 million. (5/21/2012): The Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson has purchased Heath Ledger's former Los Angeles home for $2.5 million.
