Graceland, Elvis Presley's home for more than 20 years, became synonymous with the singer himself.
#5: GracelandIn 1957, Elvis Presley purchased this white-columned mansion in south Memphis, named after the original owner's daughter, Grace. Shortly after moving in, Presley started making extensive modifications and additions -- including a music-themed front gate, a Meditation Garden, a then state-of-the-art television room and the famous "Jungle Room" -- creating the extravagant Graceland we know today. Presley and his parents lived the remainder of their lives at Graceland, which is now a mecca for fans and tourists who come from around the world to pay homage to The King. In 1972, the City Council of Memphis renamed Highway 57 South to Elvis Presley Boulevard, and in 2006, Graceland was declared a National Historic Landmark.
