Both Pickford and Fairbanks' ghosts have been spotted on the property where their home once stood.
The Pickfair Estate
Beverly Hills, Calif.
Originally built in the 1920s for silent film stars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, this legendary Hollywood home is said to have a resident ghost -- even though the original home is no longer standing.
The couple bought a small hilltop hunting cabin set on 15 acres in what was then the Hollywood backwoods. They then transformed the hunting cabin into a magnificent 22-room mansion where they entertained Hollywood royalty and, occasionally, actual royalty. The couple divorced in 1936, but Pickford remained in the home, becoming more and more reclusive until her death in 1979.
When Israeli businessman Meshulam Riklis and his wife purchased the home in 1988, they discovered that the house was riddled with termites during the course of renovation. So, they tore the house down and built the flashy property that stands today. Even though the original house is gone, legend says that Pickford's ghost pops up from time to time, waiting to reconcile with Fairbanks, who has also been spotted on the property.
You can pick up this home -- and its history -- if you have $60 million to spare.
