HGTV Dream Home 2011: Stowe, VT
Located in the quaint town of Stowe, this Vermont ski home mixes Adirondack Great Camp architecture with sustainable and modern design. The home was built in the Arts & Crafts style, which refers to the Arts & Crafts movement of the late 1880s. One of the founders of the movement, English reformer William Morris, wanted to return to a pre-industrial, handmade society.
The HGTV Dream Home 2011 was designed around a recurring theme of birch wood, organic materials, spacious living areas and large windows that take in the incredible mountain vistas. Oversized stepping stones lead guests into the entry hall that seamlessly filters into the cozy gathering room. Soaring ceilings and a warm fireplace create the ideal ambiance for the heart of the home. The eat-in kitchen boasts stainless steel appliances, marble tile and dramatic beamed ceilings. The dining room overlooks the best views on the property with easy access to the deck. The home also features spacious bedrooms, spa-like bathrooms, a viewing annex, a ski dorm, a mud room and a stone terrace with an outdoor kitchen and a hot tub.
