The original Playboy Mansion was designed by architect James Gamble Rogers in 1899, and purchased by Playboy Magazine founder, Hugh Hefner, in 1959. Throughout the '60s and early '70s, 1340 N. State [more] Parkway was the hippest place to be and be seen, until 1974, when the infamous playboy leased the residence to the Art Institute of Chicago for student housing when he moved the business and his playmates to Hollywood. In 1989, Hefner officially donated the home to the school, which was then turned into seven single-family residences in 1993. Today, this 7,874-square-foot condo is on the market for a cool $6.7 million.
