This home served as the drug dealer's home in this year's latest stoner film, Pineapple Express.
Step Inside the Pineapple Express
Glendale, California
Seth Rogen's stoner flick Pineapple Express may have lacked class, but this home, which was the drug kingpin's home in the flick, has it in spades. Designed by architect Rudolph Schindler, the home was built in 1941 for writer/composer Jose Rodriguez. Rodriquez's budget was much larger than Schindler's previous commissions, so he was able to lavish the home with green-flecked slate, zinc and copper panels, built-in furniture and extensive walls of glass. Rodriguez frequently entertained famous bohemians here, like composer Igor Stravinsky and artists Salvador Dali and Ansel Adams.
The Glendale City landmark's living room, often described as "a rotating cube frozen in space and time," has served as a venue for classical music concerts for over three decades. The home has been updated and restored, but the home's modern elements, like the clerestory windows, complex geometries and modernist fireplaces are still intact.
