'American Hustle' Producer to Dwell on Mount Olympus?
Megan Ellison is expanding her real estate empire to match her movie empire with the purchase of this $20 million home in a heavenly section of the Hollywood Hills.
Producer/heiress Megan Ellison, whose Annapurna films is behind some of the year’s most acclaimed hits, including American Hustle, Spring Breakers and last year’s Zero Dark Thirty, is also behind some major L.A. real estate deals. Most recently, she snatched up a landmark estate in the Hollywood Hills’ Mount Olympus area, for a reported $20 million.
The 27-year-old bought the glass and concrete, 9,204 square-foot mansion after selling three others in the Bird Streets for a total of more than $14 million. Seems she’s following in the real estate baron footsteps of her father, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, who owns a major portion of the properties on Malibu’s Broad Beach, and is estimated to be worth about $43 billion.
The Mount Olympus mansion sits on its own private street and encompasses nearly three acres of land, with sweeping views reaching to downtown L.A., and even the Pacific on a smog-free day. Ellison also picked up several parcels of land surrounding her new estate, adding almost five additional acres to the grounds.
Built in 1990 and designed by Richard Schwarz, the home that resembles a space-station has been the site of numerous TV commercial and fashion shoots, as well as in movies such as I Love You, Man, where it played the part of Lou Ferrigno’s mansion. It has also been a glamourous and popular party rental venue.
Should she decide to move in, Ellison will enjoy six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a giant, sunken formal living room, two guest apartments, giant, two-story floor to ceiling windows and heated balconies and terraces.
Outdoors, there’s a grotto-style swimming pool and spa, a fireplace/fire pit and a huge sand volleyball court, among other hillside amenities.
Perfect for the millionaire heiress/film producer who seems to have it all, she can use it to host wrap parties for future blockbusters, and perhaps for an Oscar celebration party in the next couple of months—American Hustle is building major awards momentum.
