A Must-See Atlanta Home
Located inside the perimeter at the Buckhead/Sandy Springs line is an eclectic home with an architectural style we can only define as unique.
There’s this great winding road in Atlanta called Riverside that stretches from Sandy Springs to Buckhead and runs parallel to the Chattahoochee River. What was once a farrago of farmsteads is now an interesting architectural assortment, which makes for a great Sunday drive of house ogling. All along Riverside are sprawling mansions shrouded in tall hedges as well as a handful of fabulous midcentury moderns and traditional homes with long and steep driveways.

We uncovered one home a little more curious and engaging than most. Located at 5757 Riverside Drive is a four-bedroom home with three and a half baths that cannot simply be defined as a ranch or a midcentury or a log cabin and hanging the moniker of traditional on it is just lazy. So, how in the heck can we describe it?
According to the listing, the home was built in 1960, so there’s your midcentury part. And, the primary living space is all on one floor, hence the ranch theory. When we tell you that it was built around a one-room schoolhouse circa 1890 and that the family room features walls from a log cabin and that the material used for the master bedroom was once a tobacco barn, all bets are off.
The result of the architect’s vision (which might have been realized after a night of Mellow Mushroom Pizza) is a whimsical and eclectic family home with interesting details around every corner. We especially dig the wall of wine and the stone hearth fireplace in the living room. The kitchen’s pantry doors feature hammered copper, an island, a separate breakfast area, a wet bar and a Vulcan range Mrs. Spock is sure to love.
The spacious master bedroom is like checking in to a ski chalet with its own fireplace, skylights and a door that leads to the pool and patio area. The master bathroom has a double vanity with a separate whirlpool tub and shower. It also has an adorable artist's loft and a small deck. If the walls could talk, we’re not really sure what language they’d be speaking, but we're interested to hear what they say.
It’s priced at $789,000 and you can see the full listing details at Harry Norman Realtors.
