Talent manager Sophia Chang loves the diversity in Alphabet City, the edgy and arty nook of Manhattan she partied in when she first arrived in New York during the 1980s. "Avenue D is all Black, Latino, and Asian," says Chang, 43, who lives in a rent stabilized apartment where the median condo/co-op price is $319,700. "There is way more flavor there. Music in the cars, incense sellers, everyone saying 'hi.' It feels like a neighborhood. Avenue C is just gentrified, a bunch of college kids going to bars.""
Chang also picked the locale because it is blocks from her children's exclusive public school. "We are blessed to get into a good public school in New York and I would much rather do a five minute walk than a half hour train ride."
